I think you're confusing 'homophone' with words that rhyme and words with similar spellings.

A homophone is a word than shares the same pronunciation as another e.g. flower and flour. NOT sort of similar pronunciation if you had turned your hearing aid off and someone was using a hoover in the room. Who actually mistakes "parrot" and "carrot" for being the same word?
