relay has to be the most ambiguous answer. Relay in your example might have four legs of the event but the participants have 2 each making 8.... opposed to your example of people with the righteous brothers with 4.

Fair point, Big Phil, though that would be more the case if I had stipulated relay runners or squad as it would then focus on the participants!!! And if one of the relay runners was Oscar Pistorius........

I was originally going to use eight legs and the connecting group would consist of a tarantula, a pair of regency dining chairs, a snooker table and the Rolling Stones. I changed it to four so that Guinea Pig could appear as a crossover not just in the old coin connection but also the four legs, even though that would probably not fool anyone.

And Goliath, an eight leg bet, would have been in there with tarantula (or another spider species) as the crossover.

Rolling Stones would be 10 legs?

No, no, Wiz, there are only four in the Rolling Stones as has been the case for some time. Jagger, Richards, Wood and Watts. They use a session musician as bass player these days.
